It would be an understatement to say that Josh Whitlow came from a family of pastors, and when Pastor Josh was 16 he too felt God was calling him, like so many before him, into a life of ministry.

Before his fulltime pursuit into the ministry Pastor Josh first had to answer his relentless desire to serve our Country. In 2002 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, and after 2 overseas deployments and participating in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Pastor Josh came home for good in 2006. That same year he married his best friend and greatest ministry partner, Crystal. They now have 3 beautiful children, Lucy, Josh and Lincoln.

After 8 years of full time ministry and serving at Community Church in Ashburn, Virginia, He and Crystal knew God was calling them to pursue the God sized dream of planting a life giving church. In March of 2014, Pastor Josh and Crystal drove down Broad Street and immediately knew this was their new home. They have completely fallen in love with The City of Richmond, it's people, it’s needs and it’s unimaginable potential. Since then, God has sent several others to be a part of what we believe God is about to do in RVA. This chapter is only beginning; the best is yet to come!

Introduce people to the unconditional love of God and help them reach their full potential in Christ.

Meet God. Meet Friends. Live Life Better.

Meet God
We will do whatever it takes to introduce people to Jesus. One of the most important ways we can do this is by worshiping and learning together on the weekend and then inviting our friends.

Meet Friends
We will be intentional in helping people do life together. Not only in rows on the weekend, but in small groups during the week. Don’t be a lone ranger, let’s face it…we’re better together!

Live Life Better
We believe that your best life yet will be discovered when we serve other people. It is in our DNA to love and serve people like Jesus did.

Fake is exhausting. We are a real church made up of real people seeking an authentic relationship with Christ.

With our time and money we will be radically generous to make an impact in our community and around the world.

Plenty of things in life just aren’t fun anymore. Church and your relationship with God doesn’t have to be one of them.

Meeting the needs in our community is a top priority. We will partner with other charitable organizations to help meet the needs in RVA and serve with no strings attached.

Nobody is perfect. Whatever your past or present is, You’ll find acceptance here. Just give it a chance.

Heights Church is here to bring life to RVA. We believe that not just one, but several life giving churches are the most effective way to positively affect culture. We exist not only to help people, but families, communities and this entire city discover and fulfill its God given purpose.

The Bible is God’s Word to all people. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. Because it was inspired by God, the Bible is truth without any mixture of error and is completely relevant to our daily lives.

God has existed in relationship with Himself for all eternity. He exists as one substance in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Although each member of the Trinity serves different functions, they each possess equal power and authority.

The Father: God is great: He is all powerful, all knowing, ever present, unchanging, completely worthy of our trust, and above all, holy. It is in Him that we live, move and exist. God is good: He is our Father. He is loving, compassionate, and faithful to His people and His promises.

The Son: Jesus Christ is completely human but, at the same time, completely God. He is the only plan for bringing people who are far from God back into a right relationship with God. He lived a perfect life, so that He could be a substitution for us in satisfying God’s demands for perfection. He defeated death in His resurrection so that we could have life.

The Holy Spirit: His presence assures us of our relationship with Christ. He guides believers into all truth and exalts Christ. He convicts people of their sin, God’s righteousness, and the coming judgment. He comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts, and makes us more like Christ.

Man was created to exist forever. He will exist either eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is Heaven. Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence.

Man is made in the image of God and is the supreme object of His creation. Man was created to have fellowship with God, but became separated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, man cannot attain a right relationship with God through his own effort. Every human personality is uniquely created, possesses dignity, and is worthy of respect and Christian love.

The blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the only way of salvation through the forgiveness of sin. Salvation occurs when people place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin. Salvation is a gift from God, it cannot be earned through our own efforts.

The Church

The Church is a local community of baptized believers unified through faith in Christ. The Church is committed to the teachings of Christ and obeying all of His commands; it seeks to bring the Gospel to the world. The Church works together in love and unity, intent on the ultimate purpose of glorifying Christ.

Small Groups

They are your key to developing healthy relationships with those who share your interests, or people who are dealing with similar life issues. Small groups are an opportunity to reach out to others, while growing in your walk with God.

Groups meet in homes, businesses, restaurants, or other locations throughout the city. These groups change and begin at different times during the year, so you have the opportunity to explore different groups, or join groups at any time. You'll never fully experience all Heights Church has to offer until you connect in a small group!

Fall Semester: September thru Nov (12 weeks)

Spring Semester: February thru April (12 weeks)

Summer Semester: June thru July  (8 weeks)
